If I hear of new Portuguese people in Perth I try to meet up with them and offer my assistance, invite them for coffee, make them feel welcome. Just a small gesture, but I hope it helps them feel settled and welcomed.

Now we live in an established neighborhood and everyone seems to be settled in their relationships. Getting to know others is so much harder now.

Making friends with people from other countries in my work environment is a great way ultimately to get around the world. When they go home or move to another country, you have another reason to go there.
